Welcome to the 2024 Spring issue of The Lantern

In this edition, we are asking for your help. At Farleigh Hospice, we could not provide the care and support that we do for the people within mid Essex who need us, without the ongoing support of our local community. Please complete our survey to help us better understand how we can ensure that you, our supporters, feel valued and informed about the impact of your support

As the weather gets warmer, we have lots of outdoor events and challenges for you to enjoy. Our popular sponsored Walk for Life returns on Sunday 12 May and we’re looking forward to the fantastic floral displays at our Open Garden events from May to September. Margaret Axon tells us why she has been organising fundraising events for Farleigh for over 42 years, including the Danbury and Little Baddow Open Gardens,

If you’re looking for a unique teambuilding experience, join us on the Midsummer Mudness obstacle course on Wednesday 19 June, or you might prefer to climb a mountain or sail around the coast to raise money for Farleigh (page 14).

You can still donate to Farleigh’s ‘Help us pay for the extra day’ appeal to cover the additional costs of caring for our patients and their families in a leap year.

We hear about the interesting work of our education team and we talk to two couples who have benefitted from some of the courses and support groups that we run for our patients.

Finally, we are looking for photos that capture the beauty of Essex throughout the seasons to be included in our 2025 Farleigh fundraising calendar. You can enter your images in our competition by 12 May.

Thank you for your continued support.
