Register your real tree now.

Farleigh Hospice’s collection and recycling service for real Christmas trees will be returning to doorsteps in mid Essex on 5, 6 and 7 January 2024.

Many people enjoy the tradition of having a real Christmas tree in their home as it looks very festive and can be more environmentally-friendly than a plastic, artificial tree. However, it can be difficult to dispose of afterwards as you have to book a time slot at the rubbish tip, queue to drop it off and then clean out a car boot full of pine needles.

Farleigh Hospice can take this stress away from you. We will be collecting real trees from outside homes in Braintree, Burnham, Chelmsford, Coggeshall, Danbury, Dunmow, Kelvedon, Maldon, Southminster, South Woodham Ferrers, Stock and Witham as well as the surrounding villages and areas. The trees will then be shredded into wood chippings to be used as biomass fuel or on pathways in local cemeteries and parks.

It is the eighth year that we have been providing this useful service. 101 volunteers took part in the last collection, using 60 vehicles. Thank you to everyone who is helping us this year.

Your tree must be registered before 4pm on Wednesday 3 January through our website where you can also make a donation. The money raised will help Farleigh to continue providing much-needed advice and support to local people affected by life-limiting illnesses and bereavement across mid Essex.

Thank you to Lathcoats Farm who kindly lent the Christmas tree to Santa and his elf!
