On Saturday 18th July nine-year-old George Vant from Chelmsford is hosting a Facebook Live music festival in aid of Farleigh Hospice.

Driven by his enthusiasm for music and passion for raising money for Farleigh, George took it upon himself to organise this mini-festival. Five acts have already signed up including solo artists who will be singing popular music and 80’s covers, to a band offering original rock music. George himself will be singing a range of well-known covers from across the decades.

George is a student of Katy Jackson, a locally based vocal coach and one of the acts taking part in the event. George and Katy are well known to Farleigh, having been part of the Farleigh Christmas Choir, singing every year at the Chelmsford train station, and with the support of the Essex commuters raise vital funds for the hospice.

George said: “I wanted to help Farleigh as I think it is important to take care of people and help people who are dying. I have raised £110 through my JustGiving page and I hope we can raise £500.”

Alison Stevens, Chief Executive of Farleigh Hospice said: George is an inspiration to us all. At just nine years old he has taken it upon himself to raise money for his local hospice. I would like to thank George and all the musicians and artists who are taking part. This is another example of the creativity and determination of our local community to find alternative ways to raise money for Farleigh. It is thanks to you that our nurses and doctors can continue to provide care for our patients, families, and carers and support the NHS through Covid-19 by preventing unnecessary hospital admissions.”

The Facebook Live festival will take place on Saturday 18th July from 4:45pm. For your opportunity to listen to live music, information on the latest line-up or if you are a musician or band and would like to get involved visit: http://www.facebook.com/GeorgesFarleighsHospiceFundraiser/
