Alison Stevens

Chief Executive

Alison was appointed Chief Executive of Farleigh Hospice in July 2013. She is married with two daughters. Previously a Registered Nurse in the UK and USA, Alison worked in the NHS, voluntary and private sectors, holding leadership positions for 27 years. She has completed a Masters degree in Hospice Leadership. Passionate about end of life care, Alison has presented on the subject nationally and internationally. She believes collaboration with statutory and voluntary sector providers will bring about the best possible experience for people at the end of life, together with compassionate support for their families and those who are bereaved.


Ann Smits

Director Clinical Strategy & Development

Ann joined Farleigh Hospice in 1999 to prepare and lead the team into the new building which she did successfully in 2006. Ann is an experienced nurse and clinical manager who has worked in oncology and palliative care in a variety of settings, including hospital, community and hospice. She has a passion for high-quality care and embraces the fact that we have one chance to get it right.


Sharon Ellingham

Finance Director

Sharon is a Chartered Accountant who qualified with Price Waterhouse in Bristol. She has held senior finance positions in a number of sectors including mail order, defence manufacturing and insurance. Sharon joined Farleigh Hospice in 2005 following a career break. Sharon’s role includes coordination of quality and compliance activity throughout Farleigh Hospice. She is also a director of Local Hospice Lottery Ltd.


Pauline Harvey-Jones

Commercial Director

Pauline joined Farleigh in 2015 to lead the fundraising and retail teams. She has worked in varied senior commercial roles and her third sector experience includes roles at Cancer Research UK, NSPCC and the British Heart Foundation. Pauline has a passion for strong team work, empowering and leading to success. Having a family member that experienced the impact of hospice care led her to Farleigh and she is committed to ensuring we maintain good supporter relationships whilst raising vital income for our services.


Irene Ferguson

Corporate Services Director

Irene joined Farleigh Hospice in January 2017 in a new role. She has a breadth of senior level experience throughout her career working with housing associations and local authorities with management responsibility for capital projects, business planning, strategic HR and organisational development, IT, Health and safety, risk management, maintenance and facilities.


Debbie Sevant

Director of Care and Quality

Debbie joined Farleigh Hospice in September 2016 and was promoted to the role of Director of Care and Quality in October 2017. Debbie has 34 years of combined experience working in Hospice and NHS Care in a range of organisations, developing expertise in leadership, strategic and operational management. Debbie is passionate about the value that hospices can offer. She appreciates the importance of working collaboratively with partners to provide seamless care to patients and families as well as providing direction and leadership to the clinical teams at Farleigh to enable provision of high quality care. Debbie is the Care Quality Commission Registered Manager for our North Court Road site.


Dr Eva Lew

Lead Consultant

Dr Eva Lew joined Farleigh Hospice in 2010. As Lead Consultant she is responsible for overseeing the whole medical team across all care settings, ensuring we provide a high quality and responsive medical service. In addition, she is both Lead for Clinical Governance and Lead for Medical Education at the Hospice. In 2018, Dr Eva will be working alongside Anglia Ruskin University, home of the first Medical School in Essex, helping influence the new curriculum ensuring Palliative Care becomes an integral part of training for all future doctors.
