How can you help? Volunteer Retail Volunteer Shop Assistant How you can help? Assist in tasks necessary for the successful running of the shop, under the direction and guidance of the Shop Manager. When you can help? We offer flexible opportunities throughout the week and on Saturdays. What will you be doing? There are many jobs that we need help with in our shops. You can of course let us know what you would prefer to do and we will train and prepare you for this. Some of these activities may include: Helping our customers Sorting donated stock, e.g. clothing and bric-a-brac Helping ensure the shop floor and the windows look lovely Steaming garments and preparing for sale by hanging, ticketing etc Working on the till Keeping all areas of the shop clean and tidy Other ways to help the Retail Team We have many areas within our Retail Team, which are not actually within the shop. These include: Administration support based at the hospice Driver's mate Online sales administration Furniture collection and delivery How we will support you We can offer you ‘taster’ sessions so you can see what volunteering for us will be like. Once you decide you wish to continue to help us, we will ensure you are shown how to carry out each of the tasks and trained in jobs you do, if this is needed. You will have guidance from the shop manager. We will always ensure that you familiarise yourself and comply with the Health and Safety Policy, Fire Procedure, Equal Opportunities and Disciplinary and Grievance procedure, where appropriate. It is also extremely important that you maintain strict confidentiality at all times. We would also ask that you adhere to the no smoking policy. What are the minimum requirements? You need to have the physical ability to fulfil the requirements of the role including safe moving and handling of donations.
