About us Latest updates Farleigh Hospice Impact Report 2017/18 We continue to work hard to ensure we provide the best care possible to the people of mid Essex, as demonstrated in this report. We strive to ensure that our values are at the heart of all we do. Here’s how we have lived our values over the past year. Caring Over the past year we have been working with the hospital team to improve discharge planning from Broomfield Hospital, for those who are at the end of their life. Thanks to funding from the Mid Essex Clinical Commonising Group, we now have two Nurses who work alongside hospital staff to set up care plans and discharge plans so patients can be cared for in the place they wish to be. Respectful The new data protection laws have now come into effect. Throughout 2017 Farleigh has been contacting its supporters to identify how they would like us to communicate with them and ensuring we are respecting their wishes. In total we have recorded 13,000 communication preferences and we will continue to ensure all personal data is kept secure and treated with respect. Innovative Young people with a life-limiting illness face many challenges, one of these challenges is the transition to an adult hospice. To help smooth this transition we have introduced a new facility within our Inpatient Unit (IPU), known as ‘Room 9’. Designed for young people, it comes complete with a kitchenette, modern entertainment centre, private outdoor area, as well as a sofa bed for visiting family and friends. This is part of a broader project which has seen the renovation of three IPU rooms and the family lounge. Dedicated At Farleigh we are dedicated in delivering excellent care to all who need our support. That is why we launched our new Clinical Advice Line. The advice line provides access to Specialist Nurses who are able to give advice on symptoms, nursing care and other needs relating to life-limiting illnesses. The line is open 8am to 8pm, seven days a week and offers vital support to our patients, carers and professionals alike. You can call the Clinical Advice Line on: 01245 455478.
