Hours per week: 37.5

Type of contract: Permanent

Salary: £16,540 - £19,465 per annum

Farleigh Hospice employs around 200 staff, based in Broomfield, and at sites around Chelmsford. We have provided hospice care to people affected by life-limiting illnesses across mid Essex, since being established in 1982, and have continued to grow and evolve to meet the changing needs of the community we serve. We also provide support for their families and carers, and for people who have been bereaved.

A vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join us in our small but efficient team carrying out maintenance and repairs. The successful applicant would take the lead with all Plumbing works and should be capable of working on their own initiative as well as part of a small team when the need arises. A friendly, mature approach to communicating with all types of people, from staff to patients and relatives, in a Palliative Care setting is preferable.

Although the post is primarily a mechanical fitting/ plumbing role, the ability to offer experience in other building or associated trades would be an advantage. The role will be varied and physically demanding, involving activities ranging from climbing ladders to moving large items of furniture, when needed, and will include supporting the statutory regulatory and best practice planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programme. The successful candidate will be expected to have a common sense approach to repairs and problem-solving.

As an employer we offer a range of benefits including a generous company pension scheme and annual leave entitlement. There is an Employee Assistance Programme with Healthshield, including a company paid health cash plan once you have completed a 3-month probation period. There will also be career development opportunities available for the right candidate.
