Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or just starting out, join us for Farleigh Hospice's annual Cycle for Life and ride through the stunning Essex countryside - all while helping to support your local community.
From family-friendly fun to serious distance challenges, there's a route for everyone.
All routes start and finish at Farleigh Hospice:
- 20km Ride - Start between 10.15am and 11.00am
A gentle, family-friendly route perfect for beginners or younger riders. - 50km Ride - Start between 9.15am and 10.00am
Explore the scenic Rodings - a great ride for regular cyclists looking for more of a challenge. - 100km Ride - Start between 8.15am and 9.00am
Take on a challenging route through Thaxted and Finchingfield, with a stretch of the 2014 Tour de France route. This one's for experienced riders aged 18 and over only.
We will send you the routes a few days before the event and publish them here - you can view the 2024 routes HERE but we are finalising the 2025 routes so they may be subject to change.
What to expect
- Fully signposted and marshalled routes through the beautiful Essex countryside
- Refreshment stops along each route
- First aid and mechanical support on route
- Your exclusive Cycle for Life medal when you cross the finish line
- Post ride catering will be available at the finish
- A free Farleigh t-shirt - Collect at the start or from Farleigh Hospice (North Court Road, Chelmsford, CM1 7FH) from 20 August to 4 September, 9am - 4pm

Those aged 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult and are only permitted to ride on the 20km and 50km routes.

Start/Finish Location: Farleigh Hospice, North Court Road, Chelmsford, CM1 7FH
Parking: Free event parking is available at Chelmer Valley High School (CM1 7ER). Use What3Words: ///feared.rams.mock
Please follow signs for the very short ride to the hospice from the car park on your bike.
Sign-in Times:
- 100km: 8.00am - 8.45am
- 50km: 9.00am - 9.45am
- 20km: 10.00am - 10.45am
Make sure to check in and collect your cycling number - and remember to sign out at the finish line.
