CIRCLE

Once you have been referred, you will have an initial assessment. Our team of professional counsellors and trained volunteers will help you decide the right support option for you. We offer:

  • Telephone support
  • 1 to 1 support
  • Counselling
  • Groups - Open Support Group, Help Understanding Bereavement, Art & Craft, Cooking. You are welcome to attend a group only or alongside individual support/counselling
  • Information and advice – help with finding resources, or general guidance and support

To find out more about our groups, please download our Winter/Spring 2017-18 booklet or click here.

We accept referrals from 6 weeks after your bereavement. From the 1st of April 2018 the service will change the number of sessions we offer to our clients.  Until now we have been able to offer open ended work, however demand for the service has grown rapidly in recent years and it continues to do so.  In order to meet the rising demand and provide a service that is fairer and provides us with the opportunity to reduce our waiting times, we are moving to a new model offering 12 sessions for each client.  The new offer will apply to all referrals received in the office from 1st of April, 2018.

To make a referral please complete the form below.

Yo-Yo

Yo-Yo is a community service for children and young people aged 4 to 18. The service is partly funded by Children in Need.

The options for support are:

  • 1 to 1 support
  • Counselling/art therapy
  • Group work – we have a range of groups:
    • Mini HUB (Help Understanding Bereavement) - a 5 week course for 7 -11 year olds, looking at bereavement, how it’s affected you and to meet with others in a similar situation
    • Outdoor activity days
    • Art gallery
    • Family meal
    • Memorial service
    • Workshops for parents and carers to understand the impact of loss and bereavement and how to support your child/young person

Our team also holds workshops for school staff several times a year, to share techniques and strategies to support bereaved children.

Pre-bereavement referrals are accepted when someone significant in a child/young person has a life-limiting progressive illness and they are struggling with it. Bereavement referrals are accepted from 6 weeks after the death.

Professionals and parents can refer with the consent of the child/young person by completing one of the forms below. Young people can refer themselves if competent to do so.

If you are a parent or professional who'd just like to talk to someone for guidance please give us a ring, you do not need to complete a referral form.
