We are recruiting additional volunteers to provide a listening ear to anyone who needs it in mid-Essex.

Due to its success since launching in September, Farleigh Helpers, is expecting an increased demand for its service over the winter period.

The service provides a listening ear and friendship over the telephone to those who are ill, bereaved, feeling lonely, isolated or in need of someone to talk to has seen requests and referrals for support increase month on month and now needs to increase its staff of volunteer helpers.

Michelle Von Kimmelmann, Farleigh Hospice Volunteer and Corporate Administration Manager said:

“As a community focused charity, we want to be able to extend the care we offer to beyond our usual remit. Thanks to a grant from the Essex Community Foundation, we can now reach out to provide additional befriending support to our patients, families and anyone in the local community who may need it. Our aim is to ensure that anyone who is in need of friendship, regardless of age, circumstances or relationship to Farleigh, has someone to talk to who is caring, friendly, supportive and dedicated. We are looking for kind, caring volunteers who are good listeners, IT savvy and who want to make a positive difference to people’s lives in the local community. The role is home-based so you can help people from the comfort of your living room.”

Offering non-medical support, Farleigh Helpers listen, converse, and signpost people to relevant information or professional services where appropriate.
