Welcome to the summer issue of The Lantern.

Summer is finally here! As lockdown easing has progressed, we’ve enjoyed meeting up with friends and family we haven’t seen for a while, even if the weather hasn’t quite been on our side.

Long-awaited get togethers are the theme of our Time to Get Together fundraising initiative, which encourages us to get together with our nearest and dearest while raising money for Farleigh. Farleigh supporter Angela Radley held the first Time to Get Together event in her beautiful back garden and had some VIPs visitors, find out who on page 15.

We’re delighted to have reopened our inpatient unit (IPU) this month, our staff and
volunteers are so happy to be welcoming patients back into the building. We’ve made
some exciting upgrades to the IPU, which we cover in our service update on page four.

It has also been great to welcome volunteers back to Farleigh. They are essential to almost every aspect of Farleigh and we are broadening our volunteer recruitment to fill a variety of roles including positions in our retail stores as well as for new projects such as Farleigh Helpers, which you can read all about on page eight.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to wish a fond farewell to one of our trustees, Ron Goodyear, Corporate Governance Committee Chair and Freedom to Speak Up Guardian, who has taken early retirement from the Board. We are currently recruiting for a trustee with a fundraising background so do get in touch if you know of someone who may be interested.

We hope that you are feeling as positive about the coming months as we are, and that you enjoy your summer get togethers, whatever the weather!

Thank you for your continued support, without this none of what we have achieved would be possible.
