Farleigh Hospice is raising awareness of the wide range of award-winning care that we provide, free of charge, through our Love Farleigh appeal.

Many people are already aware of the care and support that we provide at our hospice building in Chelmsford and in our patients’ own homes.

The Love Farleigh appeal highlights the other services that we offer including nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, counselling, family support and bereavement support.

Over the past year, we have faced a growing demand for our care:

- On average each month, we received 7,107 calls to our hospice advice line and cared for 494 patients out in the community - an increase of 10%.

- The number of new referrals increased, with an average of 376 new referrals per quarter.

As a charity we rely on donations, fundraising and appeals to continue this work so we are asking our supporters and friends to donate whatever they can to Love Farleigh to ensure we can meet this need and be there for people like Marina and Barry Wood.

When Barry’s wife Marina became ill with a brain tumour, he turned to Farleigh Hospice for help. Our teams worked together to provide the right care and support to meet the couple’s changing needs, so he was able to continue looking after her at home.

Barry explained, “It would have been a lot harder to care for Marina throughout her illness without Farleigh Hospice’s support and advice – they were absolutely brilliant. I knew that when I phoned, help would be there when she needed it, so I didn’t have to go out and find it myself. This care and support gave me the confidence to continue looking after Marina and make the best life for her as her health got worse. Farleigh will always be in my heart because of everything they did for us.”

As part of the Love Farleigh appeal, we have produced a series of videos with staff, volunteers and patients showing their love for the different areas of Farleigh’s care.
