“Farleigh Hospice, like so many other charities, have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This seemed like a perfect opportunity for Paul’s foundation money to kick in and help not only an amazing charity, but a charity close to home, and a charity that also helped to care for and support Paul Brame.”

The Paul Brame Foundation has donated £15,000 to Farleigh Hospice to help the charity to continue to care for people living with life-limiting illnesses through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The foundation was set up in memory of Paul Brame who was just 35 years old when he died of CUP (Cancer of Unknown Primary) with secondary cancer of the liver in October 2017. Paul, who was a store manager and buyer at Zagger in Bond Street, Chelmsford, married his partner Niah just before he lost his fight against cancer. Paul received end of life care from Farleigh Hospice, and his family were also supported by the hospice during this difficult time.

To help raise awareness of cancer in younger people and to raise money for local charities, Paul’s brother John set up the Paul Brame foundation.

Laura Everard, a friend of the foundation, has been instrumental in their fundraising efforts, organising local football tournaments in memory of Paul and helping to raise the money donated to the hospice.

Speaking about the foundation’s donation, John Brame said “Farleigh Hospice, like so many other charities, have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This seemed like a perfect opportunity for Paul’s foundation money to kick in and help not only an amazing charity, but a charity close to home, and a charity that also helped to care for and support Paul Brame.”

Alison Stevens, Chief Executive of Farleigh Hospice said “Everyone at the hospice would like to thank the Paul Brame Foundation, particularly Laura Everard and Paul’s mother, Carole Brame, for their fundraising efforts and kind donation. It is thanks to the support of local foundations and our local community we can continue to care for people living with life-limiting illnesses and support the NHS through these challenging times.”
