Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

A message from Susanna Offor, Farleigh Hospice Chaplain & Spiritual Care Lead

Dear Friends,

I am sure, like me, you are deeply saddened to hear today’s news that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, has passed away.

As we as a nation grieve the loss of an extraordinary woman. We also give thanks for her as a person and her remarkable service to this country.

For so many of us, she has been the only monarch we have known and her dedication and commitment have been truly inspirational.

Please know that you are welcome to visit the Sanctuary at Farleigh Hospice at any point, if you would find it personally helpful to light a candle, or to write in our memory book.

It was her Majesty, that gave us the beautiful and insightful phrase: “Grief is the price we pay for love.” As a nation she has loved us, and now our thoughts and prayers are with those who know and love her as a mother, grandmother, family member and friend.

I will finish with these poignant words shared by her Majesty earlier this year, during her platinum jubilee celebrations:

“I asked you all, whatever your religion, to pray for me on the day of my Coronation – to pray that God would give me wisdom and strength to carry out the promises that I should then be making. I have been uplifted and sustained by the knowledge that your prayers are with me.”

God Bless You, Your Majesty and Thank You.
