Coronavirus update

Thursday 12th March

  • News

Farleigh Hospice cares and supports people with life-limiting illnesses, it is important that we take all reasonable steps to protect those using our services, as well as those working and volunteering at our sites.

We are continually monitoring the Coronavirus pandemic and taking sensible and necessary precautions for our patients, staff, volunteers and supporters in line with the very latest advice provided by Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England and Public Health England.

The symptoms of Coronavirus may be more severe in people with weakened immune systems, older people, and those with life-limiting illnesses.

We request that all service users, relatives, friends, staff and volunteers consider whether they could be a potential carrier of the Coronavirus and therefore pose a risk to others before visiting our Hospice or retail sites.

Have you travelled abroad in the last 14 days?

Have you been in contact with someone who has suspected Coronavirus?

If the answer is yes to one or both of the questions above we advise that you use the link to the website below to access the latest advice and guidance or call NHS 111 before visiting the hospice.

If anyone is concerned about their potential exposure to Coronavirus, they should contact NHS 111 who will advise whether they meet the threshold for testing, in which case they should not attend the hospice until the results of this are known.

Guidance when visiting Farleigh Hospice

You can help minimise the risk by following the guidance on the NHS website

For the welfare of all we are implementing the hygiene recommendations as advised by NHS England:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water often, for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water is not available. These are located at every entrance and exit at the hospice.
  • Catch coughs and sneezes in tissues, throw away immediately and wash hands or use sanitiser.
  • Avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms

Should you have any queries or concerns regarding this please contact us at or call 01245 457300

We thank you for your support and cooperation in helping to keep families, staff and volunteers safe.

We have taken the difficult decision to close some of our shops due to the current Coronavirus outbreak. As many of our volunteers are in the vulnerable category, we have asked them to stand down to protect them at this challenging time. Our staff and volunteer's wellbeing is at the centre of this decision.
