Over 850 staff from firms across mid-Essex joined forces for the Birketts Race4Business on Thursday 21 June to raise vital funds for Farleigh Hospice, a charity dedicated to supporting people within mid Essex who are affected by life-limiting illnesses.

Farleigh Hospice was the first charity to benefit from the law firms charity run back in 1998 and on the 20th anniversary of the event runners set off from Chelmsford High Street, following a 5k course taking them through Central and Admirals Park, finishing at Birketts office in New London Road.

This year’s event was as competitive as ever with Daniel Jenkins from Essex & Suffolk Water finishing first with an amazing time of 00:16.56.  Lauren Kirchel from DST was the first female through the finishing line with a time of 00:21.40.  The award for the fastest team went to Aon UK Ltd 00.59.19 and DST systems won the award for the largest team.

“We were absolutely over the moon to be chosen as this year’s beneficiary for Race4Business and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who ran, donated money, gave up their time or helped in any way to make this year’s Birkett’s Race4Buiness such a great success.

All the money raised will go towards our HOP, the hospice outreach project which will enable us to help more people in the community.”

- Debbie de Boltz, Fundraising Manager at Farleigh Hospice
