We continue to work hard to ensure we provide the best care possible to the people of mid Essex, as demonstrated in this report.

We strive to ensure that our values are at the heart of all we do. Here's how we've lived our values over the past year:

Caring

Although we've faced a number of challenges in the past year, including the closure of our Day Hospice in Maldon and having to take our Hospice Outreach Programme (HOP) vehicle off the road, this didn't slow the increase in the number of people we care for. With a 12% increase, the total amount of people cared for by our clinical teams rose from 3,317 to 3,704.

Respectful

Where we can, we respect people's wishes to be cared for int he place of their preference. With 72% of patients preferring to be cared for in their home environment, our Community Nursing Specialists had a 15% increase in home visits, taking us from 3,245 and 3,725.

Innovative

We've worked hard to redevelop the services we provide, allowing us to run a wider variety of options, aimed at meeting the differing levels of need. We're now also offering Spa Retreat Days for patients and carers, giving them time to sit back and enjoy a day of relaxation and complementary therapy.

Dedicated

In October 2016, we recognised the dedication of our many volunteers who share their time and skills across our organisation through a series of afternoon teas with long service award presentations.
