Walk for Life 2024

12 May

We are excited to announce that our much-loved Walk for Life is back on Sunday 12 May!

Book a place

Book your place

You are invited to lace up your walking boots and with every step you'll be helping your local hospice to provide care, free of charge, to people affected by life-limiting illnesses or bereavement in mid Essex.

Last year our amazing supporters raised over £43,000!

This family-friendly event is suitable for keen walkers of all ages and abilities and your doggy friends are also welcome! Each child will receive a wildlife card to be completed along the route. Everyone taking part will receive a t-shirt at the beginning of the event to wear on the day and a medal at the finish line.

Choose between two scenic canalside routes taking in the peaceful towpaths of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation:

  • 12km ramble from Paper Mill Lock
  • 24km more demanding walk from Heybridge Basin

Registration closes on 9 May 2024 after which prices are £25 for adults and £10 for under 16s to be paid on the day.

Please note that we offer a carer/support worker ticket option but this event is not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies.

Park and ride

As the two routes are not circular, we offer a one way dedicated park and ride service at a cost of £2 per person from Chelmsford (Teledyne e2v) to take you to the start point for the beginning of your walk. We strongly recommend you use this service as limited parking is available at the start points. Dogs may be taken free of charge on some coaches, so please indicate on your booking if you are bringing your four-legged friend(s).

Parking

At Heybridge there is limited parking at Daisy Meadow - parking charges apply via the Ringgo app or pay by card or contactless.

At Paper Mill Lock - There is very limited parking available locally. We encourage you to use our park and ride service.

Start your sponsorship

Walk for Life is a fundraising event and we rely on all our participants to raise as much money as possible to help Farleigh Hospice continue to care for people with life limiting illnesses and their families. You can download a sponsorship form, or sign up for your very own JustGiving page.

Sharing a photo of yourself on the walk with your JustGiving Link is a great way to get support on social media. Use the hashtag #FarleighWalkForLife so we can like and share your pictures.

Remember, you can continue to raise sponsorship after the event!
