Why the HOP is needed

I want to donate to the HOP Appeal

Farleigh Hospice has always been committed to providing services as near to where patients live as possible.  Our outreach services currently include 3 day care centres as well as a large range of services provided in patients homes.  The Braintree Day Hospice is based in the St Michael's Hospital building and we have been given notice to leave due to planned re-development work.

We therefore had to take a full acount of our options and consider how best to meet the increasing and complex needs of local people from the Braintree and Witham areas.  After speaking to a number of patients and relatives it was decided that the most effective way to meet the need is to expand day care places at our sites in Chelmsford and Maldon to accomodate patients from the Braintree District.  We have also introduced short 3 day respite breaks on our In Patient Unit.

Finally the HOP (Hospice Outreach Project) will be the UK's first mobile hospice, travelling to patients own communities delivering care to an increased number of people in a flexible way.  This means that more people than ever before will have access to our services.
