At Farleigh Hospice, we care for the whole person. We recognise that the impact of a life limiting illness goes well beyond physical problems. We have a team of social workers who care for patients emotionally and help them work through what are often very difficult and painful issues.
This care can take place either at home or in one of our day centres and can encompass the patients and their close family. The help and support that this care provides is immeasurable: patients often feel that they cannot burden their family. Likewise, relatives and carers may feel isolated and find it hard to express their feelings.
Support and help for relatives and carers is offered after the death of a patient. The Farleigh Hospice bereavement support team offers sensitive listening and support at a time when people are struggling to come to terms with their loss. This care can take the form of either telephone calls, one to one or group support, depending on the needs of the individual.
