Children & family support

The diagnosis of a life limiting illness in the family can have a huge impact on children.  They may not understand what is happening and adults may find it difficult to talk to them about it.  Children can also feel very isolated, with none of their friends being in the same position.

Children have different ways of expressing themselves and working through issues,  therefore we have a dedicated children and families counsellor who works with individuals and groups.  Work also takes place with adults to help them communicate better with their children.

We have a children and families room where this work can take place.

The Child and Families Counsellor also co-ordinates the Yo Yo Project.  For more information on this, please click here.

'I think it made me feel a different way about my mum dying, it made it more positive, I'd recommend it to other children as it makes you feel like you're not the only one.' - Amber, aged 11.
